Two Belgians qualify for European round of the world best machine operator competition

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May, machine operators participated in the Belgian Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge. Organised by Cat® dealer Bergerat Monnoyeur in Overijse, the competition saw Belgian machine operators take on a variety of challenges to test their skills in digging, loading, transporting and manoeuvring the machines around various obstacles. The two winners of the Belgian competition Milan Monnier from Roeselare (Maeyaert Aannemingen BV) and Dylan De Lobelle from Ghent will take part in the European competition in October 2022. 

Honouring machine operators 

Caterpillar Inc. invited machine operators worldwide to participate in the 2022/2023 Global Operator Challenge. The challenge, known in the industry as the "toughest competition in the world", tests the skills and precision of machine operators. They are tested on their handling of Cat machines and must prove that they can control any heavy implement safely and efficiently. Competitors from nearly 40 countries compete in the 2022/2023 Global Operator Challenge. 

During each round of the Global Operator Challenge, participants perform a series of challenges, such as digging a trench, loading a specific amount of soil and manoeuvring the equipment through a series of obstacles. They are judged on their skills, efficiency and their ability to use the integrated technology to improve the performance of the machine. ​ ​

Goal: Las Vegas 

The winners of the European competition will travel to Las Vegas in 2023, where the world final will take place at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG construction fair. Nine finalists will emerge from the regional semi-finals to compete in the global final in the US in March 2023. The winner of the competition will win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to a Caterpillar factory. ​ ​ ​ 

2022 Belgian Winner, Milan Monnier (Maeyaert Aannemingen BVBA), said, "I am a final year student and have been training to be a Cat machine operator since I was 12 years old.
